About
The Domestic and International Common Language Database (DICL) contains bilateral measures of both international and domestic language similarity for 242 countries. The international measures reflect linguistic similarities between populations in different countries while the domestic measures reflect similarities among each country's domestic population. The measures are derived from 6,534 individual languages and reflect three aspects of language including official languages, native spoken languages, and linguistic proximity between different languages.
